James
happy holidays from your cuz Eric Killian in Hickory N.C.  I have some interesting news, you may already know this but I have found an Killian grave yard at what use to be the Casper Killian farm later know as the John Killian farm, located in the northern part of Catawba County.  I am going to check it out this week.  It is suppose to have about 35 graves sites.  My thinking on this is that Elijah was a poor man after the civil war and was not a member of a church so when he died he couldn't be buried in a church cemetery so he might have been buried at this Killian Cemetery.  Also I found a death date for Elijah it is an official record but it is a date that fits the time frame of his life January 26,1908 died from Lagrippe

I will let you know if it pans out

Thanks.  Yes, let me know what you find in the cemetery.  If he is too poor, he may have no tombstone.  How do you know he did not go to church?  What is the source of the death date & cause?  Maybe we could verify it with a newspaper obit.

At http://www.genealogy-quest.com/glossaries/diseases2.html I see "Lagrippe -[is] Influenza." So he died of the flu.

Do you have the money to have the DNA test done?  I'd like to know if our Sam Killian is indeed a half brother of Ed Killian's ancestor, George.

May I forward your email to our cousins who descend from Elijah?

Thanks for writing.

Hope you had happy holidays this is your cousin Eric calling you again.  To update you on the Killian cemetery I went to it only to find one head stone, and it was a one day old infant.  The man that took me there said that the cemetery had been vandlised back in the late 60's early 70's.  I am planning to go back again with a steel probe maybe I can find something under the high grass or just below the surface.  About Elijah that date was something that I had found in a cemetery index book.  Also my dad states that the Killian family church is St Stephen Lutheran, and that Elijah's parents, brother and sister are buried there.  If you are not a member of the church you can not be buried in the church cemetery.
